After having sat in the W-2 CFO role for over 10 years in a both Private Equity and family-owned business, Nolan viewed 30+ middle-market companies through the lens of potential acquirer.  These companies were often challenged in the various areas of accounting and finance.  The thought occurred that there is a need for financial leadership on part-time basis.  Too many companies don't have the need for 50+hours a week justify employing a full-time executive.  After seeing the successful transition of his employer to a strategic buyer, Nolan started Spencer Advisory in 2018 in an effort to serve the part-time CFO market.
