After having sat in the W-2 CFO role for over 10 years in a both Private Equity and family-owned business, Nolan viewed 30+ middle-market companies through the lens of potential acquirer. These companies were often challenged in the various areas of accounting, finance, information technology and software and human resources. The thought occurred that there is a need for financial leadership on a part-time basis. Too many companies don't have the need for 50+hours a week to justify employing a full-time executive. After seeing the successful transition of his employer to a strategic buyer, Nolan started Spencer Advisory in 2018 in an effort to serve the part-time CFO market.
